METO's management

Since 1918, Meto International GmbH has been developing labeling and identification solutions for retail, the food service industry, and their supply chains. The company is led by Markus Eppensteiner and Peter Sperl, who serve jointly as managing directors. As co-CEOs, they combine their experience and vision for the future to shape the company’s future direction.

Markus Eppensteiner

Markus Eppensteiner was appointed Managing Director of Meto International GmbH alongside Peter Sperl, effective January 1, 2022. As a member of the management team, he had previously successfully restructured internal sales and further expanded the online business in Europe. In his role as Managing Director, he is continuing the modernization of the supply chain at the Hirschhorn am Neckar site that was already underway.

Markus Eppensteiner looks back on a long-standing career in supply chain management within the CCL Group, the parent company of Meto International GmbH. He worked for the sister company Avery Zweckform for 30 years.

Peter Sperl

Peter Sperl co-leads Meto International GmbH alongside Markus Eppensteiner. The two managing directors share a long history of close collaboration, during which they have developed the company’s strategic direction as partners. This continuity provides customers and employees with a reliable foundation.

What drives  METO’s leadership

Meto supports its customers with solutions for pricing and sales promotion at the point of sale. Meto has developed many solutions that later became industry standards: In 1959, the company launched the first handheld price gun, followed in 1968 by the serrated-edge label with a security cut. The management team builds on this tradition while simultaneously aligning the company with the demands of an increasingly digital retail landscape.

At the heart of this is a clear promise to customers. Meto develops solutions that are easy to use, offer practical and economic benefits, and ensure legal compliance. Whether manual or digital, the standard remains the same.

Our values

Quality, sustainability, and customer satisfaction are not just buzzwords here, but benchmarks for our daily work at our Hirschhorn am Neckar location. For example, in label production, Meto relies primarily on raw materials from certified sustainable forestry and has halved its own CO₂ emissions since 2020. Quality stems from decades of experience in developing labeling solutions that customers in retail and the foodservice industry can rely on every day.

Since 2016, Meto has been part of CCL Industries Inc., a market leader in label and packaging solutions, and is operated there as an independent company within CCL’s Avery division. This affiliation provides management with the support and flexibility needed to further develop the company as a reliable European partner.
